On November 4th, the traffic signal cabinet at the intersection of South Ninth Street and Crawford Street was struck due to an accident. The City of Salina Public Works Department has ordered parts but due to availability, the intersection lights have been wired to function in flashing red with portable stop signs to help direct traffic through the intersection. Current estimated timeframe for complete repair is 2-4 weeks due to electronic parts availability.
Reminder, when approaching a blacked-out or flashing red light intersection you should come to a complete stop, check all directions to ensure there is no traffic and proceed when clear. The driver that approaches the signal first determines the right-of-way. Both blacked-out and flashing red lights have the same meaning as a STOP sign
