Beginning June 25, the City of Salina Public Works Department is having to install a new traffic signal cabinet at the intersection of South Ninth Street and Belmont Boulevard. Due to the repair, the intersection lights may be off (blacked-out) or in flashing red at times and portable stop signs will be used to help direct traffic through the intersection. Repairs are expected to be completed within the same day.
Reminder when approaching a blacked-out or flashing red light intersection, you should come to a complete stop, check all directions to ensure there is no traffic and proceed when clear. The driver that approaches the signal first determines the right-of-way. Both blacked-out and flashing red lights have the same meaning as a STOP sign.
