Payment Review Hearings
If you have been sentenced by Salina Municipal Court to pay fines and court costs and have requested time to pay, then you are expected to make payments toward the total amount owed. At the time of the hearing, the Court will review the payments you have made. If you have made all of your payments on time and for the full amount that was ordered, you can request the hearing be moved to a later date to allow you to continue to make regular payments. To request the hearing to be rescheduled to a later date, you can submit the Request to Reschedule Payment Review Hearing form. When filling out the form, please contact the Salina Municipal Court Clerk's Office at (785) 826-7230 to receive a hearing date. If your request is approved, a new hearing date will be scheduled and you will be required to appear at that time.
Your appearance at the hearing is not excused unless your request is received and approved by the Judge BEFORE the scheduled hearing or your cases are paid in full. A warrant will be issued if you do not appear at your scheduled hearing.
If you were convicted of any traffic charge, missing your payments and/or not appearing at a scheduled hearing can result in suspension of your driving privileges. If your driving privileges are suspended, additional fees will be added to what you are required to pay to the Court on your case. To avoid suspension of your driving privileges and additional fees, it is important that you make your payments on time and in the amount that you agreed to pay and appear at scheduled court dates.
Community service work at an approved non-profit agency can be used to pay any fines owed. For more information on community services, please click here. In the case or hardship, you can request the Court to consider waiving some or all of the fines you have been ordered to pay. To make that request, you should appear on your hearing date and provide verification or documentation of your circumstances that you believe support your request. If you are not able to perform community service work, you should be prepared to provide documentation of that for the Court to consider.
