The City of Salina will host its first Accessibility Seminar on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm at the Visit Salina Annex, 218 N. 7th Street. The free event is sponsored by Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, OCCK, and Disability Rights Center of Kansas.
The seminar is a half-day educational opportunity for local businesses to understand accessibility issues that individuals face and how to make their businesses more accessible. Guest speakers include: Kip Elliot and Liz Hueben of Disability Rights Center of Kansas; and Alison Butler of the City of Denver’s Division of Disability Rights. The seminar will also have a lived experience panel featuring members of the community who will discuss obstacles that are experienced in their day-to-day lives that an abled-bodied person would not experience.
The event is free to attend with limited seating. Registration available at Salina-KS.gov/ADA or contact the Community Relations Division at [email protected].
For more information, call (785) 309-5745 or visit www.salina-ks.gov/ADA.
