) Salina Arts & Humanities (SAH) announces Allie Fischer as the agency’s new Program Assistant.
A native of Lawrence, Kansas, Allie brings an impressive educational background and a passion for community arts. She holds a Master of Arts in Museum Studies from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, focusing on mixed media and photo-based creations, from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.
Previously, Fischer worked as a Gallery Director for the University of Kansas and an Education Graduate Intern for the Spencer Museum of Art. She is excited to be returning to her rural roots, with family ties to the plains of north-central Kansas. “I enjoy how close and easy it is to get to the country,” Fischer shared. “I am excited to be close to the wide-open space, the colorful skies, and the beauty of the prairie.”
In her role at SAH, Fischer will oversee the River Festival’s Artyopolis children’s area, support the Festival’s visual arts components, and assist with event administration. Alongside her River Festival duties, Fischer will also support SAH public art and artist education projects and the Arts Infusion arts education program.
In addition to her professional pursuits, she enjoys biking trails, antiquing, collecting art and photography books, and assisting in the jury process for the Kansas Scholastic Press Association.
