ORDINANCE NUMBER 24-11232
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE AMENDMENT OF THE SALINA COMPREHENSIVE PLAN BY ADOPTING AN UPDATED FUNCTIONAL STREET CLASSIFICATION MAP AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR THE CURRENT MAJOR STREET PLAN MAP IN THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN.
WHEREAS, all conditions precedent for the amendment of the Salina Comprehensive Plan have been timely complied with. SO NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. Findings. That the Governing Body makes the following findings:
- The current adopted Major Street Plan map does not clearly show all collector and local streets in the city. The updated substitute map would depict the classification of every street in the city and major streets in the outlying Urban Boundary Area.
- The updated Functional Street Classification Map under consideration would make the adopted and publicly used Functional Street Classification Map conform more closely to previous street classification maps and KDOT’s street classifications.
- The updated map under consideration would more clearly depict the expectations and vision of the Planning Commission and City Commission for the future transportation pattern in the community than the current Major Street Plan Map.
- Having an internally produced Functional Street Classification Map will make it easier to keep up to date over time.
Section 2. Comprehensive Plan Amendment. That the Major Street Plan Map (Figure 2.7) of the Salina Comprehensive Plan is amended by adopting an updated Functional Street Classification Map dated December 23, 2024 to substitute for the current Major Street Plan Map (Figure 2.7) in the Salina Comprehensive Plan document.
Section 3. Repealer. That Ordinance No. 15-10763 as it relates to the Major Street Plan Map (Figure 2.7) in the Salina Comprehensive Plan is repealed.
Section 4. Publication. The City Clerk shall cause this ordinance, as soon as practicable after it has been passed and signed, to be published on the City’s website as the designated official city newspaper.
Section 5. Effective date. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after publication.
Passed: December 23, 2024
