West Cloud Street to Close for Railroad Crossing Upgrade

On Tuesday, April 8, 2014 Union Pacific Railroad will begin work on replacing the railroad crossing located on West Cloud east of Dover Drive.

While work is in progress, Cloud Street will be closed at the railroad tracks. Direct access to businesses and homes will not be affected; however a signed detour will be available to guide through traffic north to Republic Avenue during the closure.

The closure is expected to last approximately three days and the road should be re-opened by Thursday, April 11. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to find alternate routes.

This work is part of a project funded entirely by Union Pacific. The railroad company plans to replace approximately 133,700 railroad ties, install more than 63,700 tons of rock ballast, and renew the surfaces at 174 road crossings between Salina and Oakley.
