Salina Arts & Humanities invites passionate and dedicated members of the public to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) if they would like to join the Community Art & Design (CAD) Committee. Candidates for this role may be art enthusiasts, artists, designers, or arts administrators. The committee also includes at-large members who do not need to be working in an art-related field, but individuals should have an interest in art and art activities and be knowledgeable about the community. CAD meets monthly, except June and December, with a 3-year commitment. Those yearning to engage in the public art programs and activities across Salina are encouraged to apply.
The Committee works directly with city staff to evaluate Capital Improvement Plans, and acts as a resource and advisory body to various private/public projects. Annually, they help select the location for the Sculpture Tour Salina, People’s Choice purchase, and support the Arts & Humanities staff in setting public art goals for the upcoming year. Members will be vital in expanding Salina's public art collection, transforming public spaces. Members act as stewards to the existing collection and lead city-wide discussions to educate citizens about public art's value, principles, and practices.
Interested individuals are encouraged to fill out an EOI form. These forms, along with more detailed information, can be accessed via the City of Salina website, https://www.salina-ks.gov/boards or by visiting the City Clerk’s Office at 300 W. Ash, Room 206. To be considered for boards with terms starting in September, submissions of EOIs should be made by July 31, 2025.
