9/25/2018 - 9th Street Mill and Inlay Work (One-Way Traffic Only)

On Tuesday, September 25 through Thursday, September 27, only one-way southbound traffic will be allowed.  APAC Shears of Salina and City staff have determined that extra work area is needed on 9th Street to safely complete the middle and northbound lanes.  The work consists of milling the existing asphalt street surface down to the old brick surfacing to level the roadway for a smoother ride, but this has caused a larger elevation difference (drop-off).  Turning movements through the work area will be limited due to this drop-off.
Paving of the northbound and middle lanes will begin on Thursday, September 27 and traffic will be switched to these lanes on Friday, September 28.  Only one-way northbound traffic will be allowed Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29. The traveling public is encouraged to use an alternate route for the next few days.

Local access will be maintained for residents and business owners, but they are encouraged to exercise caution and patience in the work zone.  Through traffic is encouraged to avoid this route for the remainder of this week.

The $1.5 million project is a major component of the City of Salina's $4.7 million 2018 maintenance capital improvement program.
