Public Invited to the Grand Opening of Barkley Park

The newest Salina park facility, Barkley Park, will officially open Saturday, August 20 at 3 p.m.

The two acre donor-funded dog park has three fenced in areas; two will remain open, while grass is reestablished in the third. Amenities at the park include: benches, dog water fountains and waste bag dispensers.

“This park would not be possible without the continued support of our community,” said Vanessa Cowie, Animal Services Manager.

At the grand opening, animal control officers will review park rules, and volunteers will interact with the public to encourage safe, fun use of the space. Goody bags and bottled water will be distributed, and the Salina Animal Shelter van will be on site to showcase its new wrap.

The dog park, located at the E. Crawford Recreation Area, will be open daily, except during special events such as the annual car show.
