ORDINANCE NUMBER 16-10826
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SALINA CODE SECTION 7-76 PERTAINING TO RESTRICTIONS ON THE USE OF SPRING STEEL ANIMAL TRAPS IN THE CITY LIMITS AND REPEALING THE EXISTING SECTION.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. Amendment of Salina Code Section 7-76. Salina Code Section 7-76 is amended to provide as follows:
Sec. 7-76. Spring steel traps; exceptions.
It shall be unlawful for any person to use a spring steel trap in the city limits except:
(1) Rat, mice, gopher and mole traps; and
(2) Traps used by the city pursuant to a wildlife control permit issued by the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, for the purpose of capturing wildlife that is creating a public health or safety hazard or other public nuisance.
Section 2. Repealer. Existing Salina Code Section 7-76 is repealed.
Section 3. Effective. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and publication once in the official city newspaper by the following summary:

On March 7, 2016, the City Commission passed Ordinance No. 16-10826. The Ordinance amends Salina Code Section 7-76 pertaining to restrictions on the use of spring steel animal traps in the city limits and repeals the existing section.
