2015 Microsurfacing Road Work

Beginning on Monday, July 13th, City contractors will begin applying microsurfacing on various streets within the city limits. The schedule for July 13 – July 17 is as follows:

July 13

Ninth Street (Todd Circle to 425’ south of Berg Road)

Emulsion Drive (Schilling Road to 675’ south)

Highland Avenue (Neal Avenue south to cul-de-sac)

July 14

Fourth Street (Crawford Street to Center Street)

Seventh Street (South Street to Elm Street)

July 15

Oakdale Avenue (Oakdale Drive to Ash Street)

Kenwood Park Drive (Prescott Avenue to Oakdale Drive)

July 16

Faith Drive (Republic Avenue to McAdams Road)

Courtney Drive (Republic Avenue to cul-de-sac)

Republic Avenue (Osborne Street to Roach Street)

Cherokee Drive (Republic Avenue to Pueblo Street)

July 17

Cloud Street (Westwood Road to Broadway Boulevard)

Cedar Ridge Drive (Marymount Road to Valley View Drive)

The work will include applying the asphalt surface treatment and placing temporary pavement markings.

The contractor will begin setting traffic control at 7 am. Temporary traffic control and flaggers will be present to direct vehicles through the work zones and maintain traffic flow; traffic will be reduced to single lanes in both directions during paving. Residences and businesses will be notified if access to driveways will be restricted while work is performed.

Microsurfacing is a method of pavement surface treatment which prolongs the serviceability of streets by creating a moisture-resistant barrier while increasing the rideability. This process has been successfully used in Salina for many years. Combined with joint and crack sealing, this surface treatment program extends the service life of pavement.
