Solid Waste Landfill Fees
Disposal fees are based on the type and weight of materials brought to the landfill. The 2024 minimum disposal fee at the landfill for secured loads is $11.50 per vehicle for loads up to 500 lb. Unsecured loads for loads up to 500 lb is $23.00 per vehicle. Secured loads of 500 lb or more is $46.00 per ton. Unsecured loads of 500 lb or more is $92.00 per ton. There are separate fees for other materials such as tires, dirt, rock, concrete, asbestos, contaminated soil, etc. Please call for specific rates not listed.
Yard Waste
The Salina Municipal Solid Waste Landfill operates a yard waste disposal site for Saline County residents to bring their yard waste free of charge if the load is properly secured. Unsecured yard waste will incur the minimal tipping fee of $11.50 per vehicle. In 2024 commercial haulers of secured yard waste will pay $23.00 per ton. Commercial haulers of unsecured yard waste will pay $46.00 per ton.

- Unacceptable materials: sod, dirt, rock, animal waste, lumber, food waste, refuse, grass, and leaves
Waste Tires
When bringing tires to the Salina Municipal Solid Waste Landfill, please separate them from regular waste. The tires will be stored on-site and collected by a recycler.

Scrap Metal
Scrap metal (washers, dryers, hot water heaters, etc.) is collected for recycling at the landfill. Scrap metal must be separated from regular waste.
Customers must provide Freon removal certification for items such as refrigerators, freezers, A/C units, dehumidifiers, etc. There are numerous local businesses that remove Freon.
