Community Service Technician
The Salina Police Department employees one community service technician who works with the Traffic Unit. This position is responsible for monitoring parking in the downtown business district, traveling in a vehicle and on foot using a computerized handheld parking ticket computer to issue citations for parking ordinance violations. The Community Service Technician also performs the following:
- Locate stolen vehicles
- Issue tickets to improperly parked vehicles
- Collect fines from parking drop boxes
- Mark vehicles for tow
- Alert repair crews to damaged or missing signage and fine boxes
- Alert police, fire or medical personnel to emergency situations
