West Ash Street, Park Street, and West Elm Street to Close for Railroad Crossing Work

On Saturday, April 12, 2014 Union Pacific Railroad will begin work on the railroad crossings located on West Ash Street, Park Street, and West Elm Street, just east of Broadway Boulevard.

While work is in progress, Ash Street, Park Street, and Elm Street will be closed at the railroad tracks. Direct access to businesses and homes will not be affected; however a signed detour will be available to guide traffic around the work zone during the closure.

The closure is expected to last approximately three days and the roads should be re-opened by Wednesday, April 16, 2014. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to find alternate routes.

This work is part of a project funded entirely by Union Pacific. The railroad company plans to replace approximately 133,700 railroad ties, install more than 63,700 tons of rock ballast, and renew the surfaces at 174 road crossings between Salina and Oakley.
