Neighborhood Watch Groups
To start a neighborhood watch group, contact your neighbors and decide on a convenient location to get together for an organizational meeting. The best place is usually at a home or in a meeting hall in the neighborhood.
Next, two weeks prior to the meeting make arrangements with the Training/Community Relations Unit commander, Sgt McCary of the Salina Police Department for an officer to attend. He can be reached by email or by phone at (785)-826-7210 ext. 237, Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Last, confirm the time and location of the meeting with your neighbors. The meeting will last approximately one hour and the officer will explain preventative measures that can be taken to reduce crime in your neighborhood.
