Park Technician

Application deadline: TH 01/24/2019-Parks & Recreation/Ball Fields-Duties: Performs a variety of unskilled & semi-skilled manual labor in ball field operations; dragging, watering, chalking, tamping & other ball field preparations; completes construction & maintenance of ball field facilities, public buildings & other city areas & grounds; operates tractor with attachments; operates power tools, blowers, sweepers, edgers, chain saws, trimmers, clippers, sprayers, rakes, shovels & variety of other equipment or vehicles; services & performs minor repairs to equipment; installs, operates, maintains & repairs in-ground sprinkler systems; installs & maintains ball field equipment; able to identify nuisance weeds & takes appropriate action with chemicals to counteract; provides custodial services for facilities & grounds, including cleaning restrooms, dugouts & removal of trash; opens & closes facilities; meets with seasonal staff to assign daily duties. Police Officer

Application deadline: Until filled-Police Department-Duties: Protecting, serving, & working with Salina’s diverse citizenry & enforcing the law while protecting the constitutional rights of all. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Qualifications include: United States citizen; twenty-one (21) years of age at time of appointment; no felony convictions, domestic violence related conviction, or other serious misdemeanor convictions; good physical condition; eyesight: 20/100 correctable to 20/20, no upper acuity limit with contact lenses; ability to obtain Kansas Police Officer certification within one year of appointment. Landfill Operator I

Application deadline: TH 01/31/2019-Public Works/Landfill-Duties: Performs skilled & semi-skilled work in the maintenance & operation of the City of Salina’s Municipal Landfill; operates & maintains medium & heavy equipment such as compactors, dozers, motor graders, front-end loaders, self-propelled scrapers & similar equipment; assists in planning fill cells; moves, levels, compacts & covers solid waste at landfill; looks for & prevents hazardous waste from entering into landfill; mows grounds; maintains landfill roads; extinguishes fires at landfill; performs maintenance checks on equipment & makes repairs; welds; prepares minimal records of own activities, including burial logs & special wastes. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Experience: Three years of progressively responsible construction & maintenance work operating light & medium equipment; one year of experience operating heavy equipment; must be able to work outside in all weather conditions. Education: Eighth grade graduate. Utility Worker I

Application deadline: Until filled-Utilities-Duties: Performs semi-skilled & skilled labor in the maintenance & operation of a water distribution & transmission system/wastewater collection system; performs minor electrical & mechanical maintenance; maintains wastewater pumps, motors & controls; installs, repairs, cleans, taps, fits & inspects wastewater/water pipelines; installs & repairs wastewater/water valves, manholes, & fire hydrants; installs & repairs chemical feed pumps & piping; performs custodial work such as cleaning, painting, lawn mowing & snow removal. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Experience: Two years maintenance of mechanical & electrical equipment, or related work preferred.
