COMMUNITY ART & DESIGN ADVISORY COMMITTEE The Community Art & Design Advisory Committee is a committee of the Salina Arts & Humanities Commission. The purposed of this committee is to advise City staff in implementing the Community Art & Design Program. The committee works with City staff to oversee the processes and procedures of the Community Art & Design Program as detailed in the Community Art & Design Policy. The Community Art & Design Program exists to expand opportunities for residents and visitors to experience the artistic, historic and cultural aspects of the Salina community in its public places and facilities; enhance functional design in the City's infrastructure; contribute to Salina's economic development including building cultural tourism and enhancing the ability of Salina institutions to attract new employees; foster public/private partnerships for artistic beautification and expression; increase community identity, pride and vitality; provide a meaningful way to involve citizens in the design of their environments; evoke a positive, thoughtful response to Salina's built environment from residents and visitors; and provide the public with information about the Community Art & Design Program and specific Community Art & Design projects. The Community Art & Design Advisory Committee consists of seven members. Two members are members of the Arts and Humanities Commission, two members are citizen at-large, one member is a practicing design professional, one member is a practicing artist, and one member is an arts/design professional.
