HERITAGE COMMISSION The Heritage Commission has the responsibility of identifying buildings or sites of historic significance and to recommend to the City Commission that worthy properties be protected by ordinance with "HC" Heritage Conservation landmark or district designation. The Heritage Commission also issues Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior alterations, consults with owners to preserve heritage landmarks from demolition and promotes historic preservation and restoration. The Heritage Commission has seven members, each serving a three-year term. The members consist of one architect, one member of the real estate or legal profession, one City Planning Commissioner, one historian, one archaeologist, landscape architect, architectural historian or urban planner and two citizens-at-large. This Commission meets quarterly, on the last Wednesday of January, April, July and October at 4:00 p.m. in Room 107 of the City-County Building located at 300 W. Ash.
