ARTS AND HUMANITIES COMMISSION The Arts and Humanities Commission identifies, explores, and develops this area's sense of community, heritage and vision through the use of artistic and cultural resources. The Commission oversees such activities as the Smoky Hill River Festival, the Horizons Grant Program, the Smoky Hill Museum and various arts-in-education and artists-in-residence projects. It provides services to individual artists, arts and cultural organizations and the community. The Commission also advises the City Commission and acts as an advocate for the cultural development of Salina. This commission has twelve members, serving three-year terms. One City Commissioner is appointed as a liaison; in addition, one student is appointed by the Mayor as a liaison. The Arts and Humanities Commission meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the Commission Room of the Smoky Hill Museum located at 211 W. Iron Avenue.
