Sirens
Saline County Emergency Management manages the siren system for Saline County.   Sirens are only activated for tornado warnings, not for severe thunderstorms.   Sirens are typically tested on the first Monday of each month at 4:30 p.m.  If you have questions involving sirens, the need for one in your area, or a siren not working, please call the Emergency Management office at 785-826-6511.  If experiencing bad weather on normal testing day, the test will be conducted the following Monday.

Street Fair
The Smoky Hill Museum Street Fair is an affordable one-day event to celebrate history and heritage that takes place on the fourth Saturday in September.  This Family Friendly event features a parade, live music, historic demonstrators, a Corner Pantry, entertainment, food and special activities for kids of all ages.  There is no cost to attend this day of celebration.

Taxi Voucher Program
This program is sponsored through the Commission on Aging. Water conservation is an important part of the City's long-term water supply planning. For more information, call the City of Salina Water Customer Accounting Office at 785-309-5740.
Water Line Installation
For information about constructing a water line to your property, call the Department of Public Works, Engineering Division at 785-309-5725.
Water Main Leak
If you see large amounts of water running down the street, boiling up out of the ground or other evidence of a water leak in the system, please call the Department of Public Works, Utilities Water Distribution Division at 785-826-7310. After 5 p.m. or on weekends, call the Water Treatment Plant at 785-826-7305.
Water Meter Box
Water meters are housed in meter boxes, which are carefully installed in the ground and covered with a heavy lid. This is to ensure that no one can fall into one or otherwise hurt themselves. However, occasionally the box will settle below ground level, dirt will erode from around the box, or someone will remove the lid. Please report any problems with your meter box by calling the Department of Public Works, Utilities Water Distribution Division at 785-826-7310.
Water Meter Installation/Service
If you are moving into a house with City of Salina water service, call the Salina Water Customer Accounting Division at 785-309-5740 to have service established.
Water Pipes/Frozen
The water in meters and/or pipes may freeze in sub-zero weather. The Department of Public Works can help only if the meter is frozen or water in the service line piping under the the street pavement is frozen.  If you think you have a frozen water meter, etc., call  Department of Public Works, Utilities Water Distribution Division 785-826-7310. After 5:00 p.m. and on weekends, please call the Department of Public Works, Utilities Water Treatment Plant at 785-826-7305.  Consult a plumber if in-home plumbing or the pipe leading from the meter to your home or business is frozen.
Water Pressure (no water/low pressure)
If neither you nor your neighbors have water, or if the pressure is lower than usual, the Salina Department of Public Works, may be doing emergency work on the pipeline leading to your neighborhood. You should be notified of scheduled work that would interrupt service with a notice hung on your door. If you have no water and have not received any notice of interruption to service, please call Department of Public Works, Utilities Water Treatment Division 785-826-7305. After 5 p.m. and on weekends, please call the Department of Public Works, Utilities Water Treatment Division at 785-826-7305.
Water Quality Questions
If you have questions about the quality or chemical content of the water or if the water tastes or smells unusual, please call the Department of Public Works , Utilities Water Treatment Division at 785-826-7305.  You may also wish to view our Annual Water Quality Report.
