Curb Cuts

Curfew (City)

Dog or Cat License

Dogs, Pick Up, Shots
The leash law requires dogs, when outdoors, to be kept in a fenced yard or leashed. Current rabies shots and permits are also required. Animal Control officers patrol streets and pick up stray dogs and dead animals, which are taken to the Salina-Saline County Animal Shelter. Door to Door Sales
A permit is required for any person engaged in door to door sales.  The salesperson must wear the identification badge that is issued by the City when they are selling goods or services.  Certain activities, such as aggressive soliciting, are prohibited.  It is also unlawful for a door-to-door salesperson to enter upon property that is signed "No Peddlers" or with similar wording.  For additional information regarding door-to-door sales permits, contact the City Clerk's office at 309-5735.

Flyers on Cars
Not permitted on public property.  Can obtain special permission on private property, but any debris caused must be cleared immediately by those responsible.
Forestry

  • Dead or hazardous tree removal over the street or in park areas.
  • Permission to plant trees or shrubs in the street right-of- way (parking area), drainage ways, park areas, and overhanging sidewalks.
  • Permission to remove trees near public streets.  Dead or hazardous trees on private property; the City can enforce tree removal or pruning for unsafe conditions.  Tree limbs encroaching on private property and not dangerous must be resolved between property owners.
  • Policy suggestions for the Tree Advisory Board.
  • Information on the City's Tree Planting Cost-Share Program and Legacy Tree Fund.
  • Any person engaging in the business of cutting, pruning, removing, spraying or otherwise treating trees within the City, must obtain a license from the City Clerk's office.  A person or business may obtain a license for tree and shrub trimming, tree and shrub treating, or tree and shrub trimming and treating; each license is valid for three years.  When submitting an application, the applicant must furnish an acceptable certificate of liability insurance and the licensing fee.  The application will be forwarded to the City Forrester, who will examine the applicant's qualifications and competency to be licensed to engage in the type of service for which the applicant has applied.

Garage Sales
No permit is required for a garage sale, although certain restrictions do apply. Garage sales may occur once every six months for up to three days.
