ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT I

Deputy Finance Director

Application deadline: Until filled-Finance-Under the direction of the City of Salina’s Finance Director. Duties: Functions as Acting Finance Director in the absence of the Finance Director; manages the department’s Administration Division of 6-8 clerical & financial accounting employees; develops & establishes controls necessary to assure the accuracy & security of all records & funds; reviews all disbursements; notes variances from authorized practices; plays key role in preparation of the annual city budget, Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, & Audit; plays key role in the preparation of the Capital Improvements program; prepares internal interim financial reports & long range financial projections; manages Special Assessments in coordination with the City Clerk & City Engineer; manages project accounting & reporting system; performs additional duties as assigned. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Accounting or related field with an emphasis on governmental finance or accounting.  Experience: Three (3) years of experience with governmental finance & accounting; Certified Public Finance Officer designation & prior supervisory experience desired.  Requirements: Must possess valid Kansas driver’s license.  Pay: $58,983-94,095/yr.

ANIMAL SERVICES SUPERVISOR

Application deadline: Until filled (first review 03/27/14)-Parks & Recreation/Animal Shelter-Duties: Supervises & coordinates City of Salina’s Animal Shelter operations; assigns work & supervises staff in animal control function; delivers public presentations & programs; budget preparation & management; confers with state & local agencies concerning animal control issues. Education: Associates degree; National Animal Control Association (NACA) or similar certification preferred; must maintain certification in CPR & completion of NIMS training. RECREATION SUPERVISOR

Application deadline: Until filled (first review 04/10/14)-Parks & Recreation–Duties: Manages Kenwood Cove Waterpark operations; plans, supervises & organizes recreational programs & special events throughout the year; evaluates & publicizes programs; assists in budget preparation; participates in recruitment & hiring of part-time seasonal personnel; supervises a group of part-time seasonal workers. Utility Tech II-Design/Construction Observation

Application deadline: Until filled (first review 04/17/14)-Utilities- Duties: Performs technical engineering designs & construction observations; designs, surveys & observes construction for the installation of sanitary sewer, water mains, & other public utility projects; performs fire line inspections; prepares conceptual designs & project estimates; reviews & prepares hydraulic water modeling analysis; develops technical construction plans & specifications for installation of sanitary sewer, water mains & other utility improvements. Education: Associate’s degree in Mechanical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering Technology or related field. Experience:  Two (2) years technical civil engineering work and/or drafting; works with CADD, GIS & other technical software systems. Requirements: Must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license. LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Application deadline: Until filled (first review 04/17/14)-Utilities-Duties: Performs standard chemical & bacteriological tests & procedures on samples taken before, during & after treatment; maintains daily logs & computer databases of test results; maintains inventory of chemicals & laboratory equipment; monitors & controls treatment plant & distribution system utilizing an advanced SCADA system; performs relief Operator II duties; leads Water Plant Operator I when working as Operator II.  Education: High school graduate or G.E.D.; two (2) years of college level courses in Chemistry or Biology; must possess or obtain a Class IV Water Supply System Operator Certificate within two (2) years of KDHE exam eligibility.  Experience: equivalent experience in water plant laboratory work & operation. Requirements: Must live within 40 minutes response time; must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license.  Hours: Works on varying shifts & schedules. Pay: $14.39-16.12/hr.

DISPATCHER

Application deadline: Until filled-Police Department-Duties: Responsible for dispatching all police, fire, & ambulance operations in the city & county; operates a two-way communications system; monitors a computerized emergency system; types a variety of data into a computerized database. Education: High school graduate or G.E.D. Experience: In-service training program; typing speed 40 WPM minimum. Requirements: Must be minimum eighteen (18) years of age; must live within 40 minutes response time; must successfully complete in-service training program in communications related curriculum; must pass selection process that includes assessment interviews, psychological evaluation, computer voice stress analyzer examination, & thorough background checks. Hours: Twelve hour shifts from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm & 6:00 pm to 6:00 am with every other weekend off. Starting pay: $13.70/hr.
