 WASTEWATER PLANT OPERATOR I

Application deadline: TH 07/31/08–Utilities–Works on shift. Duties: performs skilled work in the operation of an advanced wastewater treatment plant & collection system; performs preventive equipment maintenance & minor repairs. Education: high school diploma, or G.E.D. Experience: Two (2) yrs. experience in maintenance of mechanical & electrical equipment, or related work. Requirements: must possess Kansas Class I Wastewater Plant Operator Certificate, or obtain within two (2) years of appointment. Must possess valid Kansas commercial driver’s license (CDL) with tanker & air brake endorsements, or obtain within three (3) months of appointment. Must live within 40-minutes response time. Pay: $13.06-20.24/hr.  Salary is dependent upon qualifications & experience.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or closely related engineering field. Experience: progressively responsible experience in civil engineering; experience with water treatment/distribution & wastewater treatment/collection & registered as Kansas Engineer-in-Training preferred. Must possess valid KS driver’s license. Must live within 40-minutes response time. Pay: $53,747-83,304/yr. Salary is dependent upon qualifications & experience.

Construction Coordinator

Application deadline: Until filled-Public Works/Engineering-Performs work supervising & participating in technical field & office engineering work in construction engineering. This position acts as senior construction manager for the City of Salina & is responsible for all construction projects. Duties include inspections, plan reviews, cost estimates, field & laboratory testing, prepare & review operating & capital improvements programs & budgets, researches & prepare reports. Education: Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Science. Experience: five (5) yrs. in technical civil & construction engineering work. Requirements: certification, or ability to obtain certification, with the KS Dept. of Transportation for inspection of state & federal transportation projects. Must possess valid KS driver’s license. Must live within 40-minutes response time. Pay: $18.33-28.41/hr. Salary is dependent upon qualifications & experience.

SANITATION LABORER (Temporary Seasonal)

Application deadline: Until filled–Public Works/Sanitation - Performs manual labor; loads sanitation trucks; dumps refuse carts; removes debris & trash; services equipment; repairs refuse carts. Performs overtime as required; & performs other duties as assigned. Experience in manual labor is very important. Must be eighteen (18) yrs. of age. Position works M - F 7:00 am - 3:00 pm or until route is collected. Starting pay: $8.25/hr.

Street DIVISION Laborer (Temporary seasonal)

Application deadline: Until filled–Public Works/Streets & Traffic-Performs maintenance on City streets, alleys, rights-of-way, & property; work includes construction & maintenance duties such as mowing, concrete & asphalt repair, painting of traffic markings, trash pickup. Position works July-Sept. M-F 7:00 am–3:30 pm. Must possess valid KS driver’s license. Pay: $7.50-8.25/hr.

 Testing for Police Officer takes place on the third Saturday of each month
