POLICE OFFICER

Application deadline: Until filled–Police Department-Duties: Protecting, serving, & working with Salina’s diverse citizenry & enforcing the law while protecting the constitutional rights of all. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Qualifications include: United States citizen; twenty-one (21) years of age at time of appointment; no felony convictions, domestic violence related conviction, or other serious misdemeanor convictions; good physical condition; eyesight: 20/100 correctable to 20/20, no upper acuity limit with contact lenses; ability to obtain Kansas Police Officer certification within one (1) year of appointment. Selection process includes: Written test, two (2) assessment interviews, psychological evaluation, computer voice stress analyzer examination, thorough background check, physical examination, & drug screen. Requirements: Must live within 40-minutes response time; must possess valid Kansas driver’s license. Successful candidates are prohibited from smoking or using tobacco products at any time, on or off the job. Written test is held the 3rd Saturday of each month. Pay: $37,918-60,549/yr.

Master Electrician

Application deadline: Until filled-Parks & Recreation-Duties: Performs master level electrical maintenance & repairs in the construction, installation, alteration, maintenance, & repair of electrical, electronic systems, instruments, apparatus, & equipment, including high & low voltage. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.; master electrician license required; HVAC/Mechanical Contractor License desired.  Experience: Four (4) years in electrical & mechanical work.  Requirements: Must live within 40-minutes response time; must possess valid Kansas driver’s license.  Hours: Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Pay: $16.66-26.59/hr.

Utility Tech II-Design/Construction Observation

Application deadline: Until filled-Utilities- Duties: Performs technical engineering designs, construction observations, and GIS application duties; designs, surveys & observes construction for the installation of sanitary sewer, water mains, & other public utility projects; prepares conceptual designs & project estimates. Education: Associate’s degree in Mechanical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering Technology, Geography with GIS certification, or related field. ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER

Application deadline: Until filled (1st Review 09/03/15)-Parks & Recreation/Animal Shelter-Duties: Enforces & applies ordinances & regulations pertaining to animal control; maintains the animals housed at the Salina Animal Shelter; investigates & conducts interviews on possible law, ordinance & regulation violations; testifies in court & at hearings on animal control matters; conducts inspections of animal facilities; issues licenses & permits for dogs & cats; provides public education on ordinances, regulations & animal care methods/techniques; apprehends stray animals; conducts various tasks in animal care and control. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.; must obtain Level I & II National Animal Control Association Academy training. SANITATION WORKER I 

Application deadline: Until filled–Public Works/Sanitation-Duties: Performs heavy manual labor in the collection of solid waste; loads sanitation and/or recycling trucks; removes debris & trash from alleys & streets; maintains landfill sites; services trucks & equipment; repairs refuse carts.  Education: Eighth grade graduate.  Experience: Heavy manual labor & outside work experience desired. Requirements: Must be eighteen (18) yrs. of age or older; must possess valid KS driver’s license; must be able to work outside in all weather conditions; must be able to perform heavy manual labor & run designated routes.  Work Type:  Heavy, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to more objects. MUSEUM ASSISTANT (TEMPORARY/SEASONAL)

Hours: 20 hours per week on a seasonal, part-time basis until October; weekend hours required as well as occasional evenings. Weekend shifts: Saturday 10:00 am-5:00 pm & Sunday 1:00 pm-5:00 pm. Pay: $8.83-10.08/hr.
