The Salina Human Relations Department is initating a new program called Youth on Board, which seeks to encourage young people to be involved in local government. The goal is to make local government more effective and representative and to help the students to develop into adults who are invested in the Salina community.
The program provides students with an opportunity to serve on the 21 boards and commissions which guide Salina's city government. More in-depth information is available by clicking here. To participate on one of the boards and commissions, students will need to fill out an expression of interest form and turn it in at the city clerk's office in Room 206 of the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash.
Human Relations staff are available to make presentations on Youth on Board to students and/or faculty. To arrange a presentation, please contact Human Relations Director Gina McDonald or Outreach Specialist Darrin Stineman.
