Nicknamed “Mid-America’s Meeting Place,” the Bicentennial Center provides for the region a place to meet, play and experience events that enhance living in and visiting the City of Salina. Since the facility opened in 1979, our mission has been to provide a regional hospitality center for events that will stimulate the Salina economy and enhance the quality of life for the community and region.
Entertainment
With an Arena that can hold up to 7,500, plus the newly renovated Heritage Hall and meeting rooms, the Center has hosted such events including concerts, ice shows, circuses, and entertainment stars such as the Bob Dylan Show, Harlem Globetrotters, Professional Bull Riding, Championship Bull Riders, and the Royal Lipizzaner Stallions, just to name a few.
Sporting Events
The Bicentennial Center also hosts numerous sporting events including the 4-A Kansas State High School Activities Association championships in basketball and wrestling, plus the 3A and 4A State volleyball, and the NJCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship. As well, basketball games between Salina South and Central High Schools also compete at the Center.
Conventions & Meetings
The facility is not only an excellent sports center, but with more than 40,000 square feet of exhibit space the Bicentennial Center annually hosts such events as the Mid-America Farm Expo, the Salina Homebuilders Association Home & Garden Show, Kansas State Square Dance Annual Convention, the AMBUCS Family Leisure Living Sports Show, and No-Till on the Plains Conference, just to name a few. The facility has served well as a meeting and dining place for Salina citizens.
As well, the Salina Chamber of Commerce holds their annual banquet with such dignitaries as guest speakers as Presidents Gerald Ford and George H. W. Bush, First Lady Barbara Bush, Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr., Former Secretary of State Colin Powell, Journalist and Sports Announcer Bob Costas, and Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska.
In-House Catering
The Bicentennial Center offers delicious in-house catering able to accommodate meetings of attendees from a few to thousands at reasonable prices. The Center has catered conferences, trade shows, wedding receptions, company holiday parties, and much more. Buffet or plated meal service for breakfast, lunch or dinner is available, and other services include break, beverage, complete bar, plus concession stand operations.
Bicentennial Center Staff
The Bicentennial Center staff includes 15 full-time and numerous part-time employees. Besides the Administrative Division, the facility has three other divisions including Advertising & Events, Operations, and Food & Beverage that take care of the day-to-day needs of the Bicentennial Center.
With our professional staff ready to assist in planning any type of event, convenience in its location and flexibility in design assures the promoter, event coordinator or meeting planner in making an event successful!

Arena: Seating for 7,583, with ADA accessibility for attendees. Banquet seating is available on the cleared 21,000 square foot arena floor for up to 1,400. Professional boxing, state and regional wrestling, plus local college and high school basketball and volleyball tournaments have been part of the annual calendar of the facility.
Heritage Hall: More than 17,000 square foot meeting and banquet space that is column free and can be configured into ¼, ½ or ¾ size space for just about any type of meeting needs. Exhibits, receptions, banquets, seminars, socials and even concerts have utilized this space.
Meeting Rooms: Recently renovated meeting rooms include drop down screens and in-house projectors. Additionally, moveable walls will allow for flexibility and versatility to arrange these rooms to fit event needs. Breakouts for meetings, socials, and meal functions are handled with ease and comfort in the meeting rooms. Located on the second floor above the lobby, the meeting rooms can be located by way of the elevator or the lobby grand staircase.
Lobby and VIP Room: The beautiful planters in the lobby along with the skylights welcome guests to the facility. The flat screen message boards assist individuals in finding their way to the correct meeting space. The VIP room has casual, comfortable elegance for the headquarters of an event or an additional meeting area for an event.
